What you need to have ready for your new web designer before beginning your website

There are a few things to consider having ready for your new web designer before he/she begins your site. These are general overall instructions from most web design companies in order to speed up the process and make the journey worth while.

I've listed them below:
  1. Content - You should have all content ready to go and in familiar general file formats if sending via email. A web designer can grab this from his/her office or home and doesn't necessarily have to go to your place of business or your home to grab this information. That content would include images(royalty free) and text for all pages.
  2. Contact Information - All emails(you can make them unclickable for the sake of spam), phone numbers, fax numbers, hours of business and possibly name(s) of staff and their position.
  3. Login Information - FTP login, domain/hosting login, CPanel(or similar) login, etc.
  4. Color schemes for new template graphics and layout - what colors do you want and do you have a logo that the designer can take from in order to add ease of design. The logo can be used as a great tool for creativity when designing a template graphic.
  5. Font - What font do you want to use, either for the logo or the overall text?
  6. Layout Ideas/Plans - Prepare or sketch out a layout plan for the site that you can address to the designer, this is custom, for the most part, so the designer wants to do exactly as you want.
  7. Links/Resources - Have a list of resources with links that you can use within the new/rebuilt website.
  8. Email Addresses - Be prepared to give your designer all email addresses and passwords that you currently have or would like to have created, as he/she will need that to setup the email accounts if they haven't already been setup.

I think that is about it folks! Hope this helps and if you ever need assistance with your website please look up Marshall Designs - Custom web design services
