What does Joomla actually offer me?

Joomla is a content management system that works for you and helps you in every way. With that being said, Joomla CMS gives you full control of your website and allows you to manage a page on the fly and so much. I will explain, in depth, what Joomla consists of and how you use it.

I'm always asked why Joomla is the perfect ingredient to your website. Well, the perfect website ingredient is. It's allowed me, personally, the opportunity to do everything in one control panel. No need for logging into other programs to check your analytics and no need for logging into your FTP(file transfer protocol) program to upload files unless your webmaster has a custom request. Below, are all the possible things I can think of that Joomla provides you and the benefits behind them.

1. Create/Edit/Delete pages on the fly.
2. Add modules(small content items that can be displayed anywhere), Plugins (added functionality), and components(programs that can be installed within Joomla that allows you to use things such as "Google Analytics" or the use of a shopping cart. You can purchase or use free components by downloading) This are approximately 80% of the most important features Joomla has.
3. Superior Administration panel. Takes some "getting-to-know" but once you grasp it and understand the capabilities more, you will understand what I'm talking about.
4. Website Compatibility amongst 100% of all the newest browsers out there today and about 80% of most older browser such as IE6 or IE7 and. There is usually a fix or code you can use to make things compatible if it isn't, come people, at least try to upgrade your browsers to ones such as Google Chrome, Mozilla 3.6.3 or higher or IE8(but this one just needs a lot of help no offense to those who enjoy IEanything).
5. SEO Friendly pages and page extensions(page.html instead of page.php?car=blue&girl=julie&date=04252010). That's right! Joomla's layout is designed to provide you with search engine friendly pages. Joomla lets you put in your meta tags for each page, set the title, set the description and add other meta tags if needed. You can use their global(every page has the same tags) method or the page by page method. There are also programs you can add to Joomla, or should I say "Your Site", such as RSS syndication(allowing another to display your page content on their site as well as you displaying website page content such as articles or blogs on your site).
6. multilingual support.
7. Media Mangement - upload images/videos direct through Joomla CMS panel.
8. Page Code(HTML) management direct through admin panel.
9. CSS style sheet management direct throguh admin panel.
10. Easily implement a custom template design direct into the CSS style that Joomla provides, either from the Joomla default template or other templates that are available to use or purchase.

That's about all I can think of, but as you can see, there is a couple large handfuls of interesting options to choose from. Joomla is an excellent and very professional content management system and I reccommend it to everyone.

Do you know how to transfer a domain name?

I would like to go through the steps on how to transfer your domain name from wherever it is parked(registrar company or hosting company that manages your domain name) to another.

So it starts like this:

  1. You must login to your current registrar company or if your hosting company is managing your domain name, you will need to either do this from your hosting companies cpanel(hosting management panel) or your host registrar company.
  2. When you login, you will need to go to your domain management section, wherever that is located, usually you will discover that it is fairly self-explainable once you are logged in and see what links to click and where to go.
  3. Once you're at this domain management section, click on your domain link(usually this is the way it is layed out) and it should give you options to unlock your domain name. Go to that option and unlock the domain.

Once you have unlocked the domain name, you will, next, need to find the DNS(Domain Name System) management section for that domain name. You will have to enter into the primary 1 and primary 2(usually) text boxes that would be available. These text boxes will have your current DNS addresses in place. Change those to the new DNS address for your new hosting company. Click okay, sumbit or whatever is available to submit the change and logout of the current hosting cpanel all together.

AND you're done! yippee...

Now you have to wait a 12 - 24 hour period, sometimes sooner than 12 hours, for the DNS addresses to transfer to the new hosting company. This process is the propogation period. The hosting company will usually always have an "under construction" page or default page up until it propogates, allowing content to be displayed live on the new hosting server.

It is advised that you, first, if you are moving everything from one hosting company to another, to backup your current site that is at your old host company and upload or FTP (file transfer protocol - what is used to transfer files or upload to the server - always done through the admin panel or with your FTP program Core FTP is an example program to download and use) your files to the new hosting server so that your site doesn't turn off or appear to be off and so it is a seamless transfer.

Well, that should do it.

Hope this helps.

There are a few things to keep in mind when optimizing your website pages.

Certain strategic steps must be performed in order to receive benefits from

the use of SEO in your website(s).

These strategies involve an array of different items to look at in your page content and coding.

The better your search engine optimization, the better results you will receive on all major search

engines/directories.  You need to identify certain parts of SEO management.

These steps or parts include:

1.  Good Content - Writing good content that is relevant to your service or subject matter.  Your page content must include

keywords througout the page. Your content must use perfect grammar.Search engines are not going to

jump on a site that is lacking these things as quickly as it would list a site that had good content elements.

This is a really important step, which is why it is number one on the list.

2.  Reciprocal LInking - This linking strategy is used to promote your site on other websites as those other websites

are promoted on your website.  It is a sure-fire way of getting ranked faster on search engines from click-throughs and getting

yourself known faster, especially if the other site has good ranking and a lot of traffic.

3.  Keywords - Study them.  Find the right ones using any keword generator on the net.  Good one to use and good example is

Google Adwords Keyword Tool at: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.  Find keywords that are relevant to your

website content.  Use keywords that have high advertising competition so that your kewords are helpful to getting leads and ranked

higher on major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Ask Jeeves, etc..  Use your keywords in things like image alt tags,

link title tags, h1 and h3 refs, URL of your pages, bold text, italic text and title tags.  you should never stuff keywords or

make unnecessary use of them, as most search engines will black ball you off their listings.

4.  Analytics - Get yourself an analytics tool that will help you understand the traffic you are receiving and where people are coming from

to view your site.  Make sure it is a tool that gives you information like the keywords they typed to get there and the search engine

they used to view your website.  In the long run, this will help guide you and keep you on track so that you can update your site

effectively.

5.  Meta Tags - Make sure don't forget certain tags like the "description" and "Keywords" tag.  Those are the most important ones you can

and should use.  This is how you get indexed on search engines, without them would be like eating pizza with no toppings...in other words,

pointless.  Put valuable keywords in your description tag, as it is used to describe your website on all search results.  Should be one

or two lines of text only...not too long. Use of other meta tags such as: robots that allow your site content or images to be indexed

or not indexed would be useful to use.

That's about all the main things I can think about.  SEO is definitely something to be concidered if you want to rank high and therefore

get more leads and site visitations in the long run.  It should be kept up at least monthly...better yet, every week.

Hope this helps.
